We Made It!

Thank’s to everyone that donated to our crowdfunding campaign, and especially to the two anonymous angel investors that took us over our funding goal with two hours to spare. The campaign remains open, however, and we continue to accept donations and give out perks. We still have three of the Clarijs customized bike bags, and seven of the BikeBike winter tunes to hand out.

Last Day

We’re on the last day of the campaign. Monday was a great day, but Tuesday is going to have to be even better. We have $2,000 more to go to reach our $7,500 goal. That’s our mini-goal for today, folks – $2,000 – do or die! First thing when you get logged in at work, open your browser and go to our crowdfunding site and donate if you haven’t already. Thanks for your donation if you’ve already given. You can donate more than once, by the way. Finally, take the link and share it with all of your friends and acquaintances and ask them to give generously.

Big, big shout-out to these generous backers that made this a special day, getting us to the $5,500 level:

  • David Lawson
  • Sonya Degner (donated again)
  • Rob Vestrum
  • Kay Anderson
  • Heather MacDermid (donated again)
  • Paul Muir

We’re sold out of the Buff Canada buffs, both styles, the Ridley’s Cycle gift cards, and the Cateye lights. But we still have quite a few of the BikeBike Winter Tune Gift Certificates, and the Clarijs Bike Bags. Still, it might be frenzy tomorrow, so you might want to check in early and snag yourself a Winter Tune or/and one of our Bicicles customized, Clarijs Bike Bags. It’s getting warmer out and you might need that Winter Tune to make things right with your bike after this very wintery interlude.

The end is right round the corner

Hello winter cyclists. It’s been cold but the rides have been great – maybe not awesome, but certainly great. It looks like it’s going to be warmer this week in good old YYC with temperatures rising to about -10C on a few days. Really doesn’t do much for commuters though since our morning and evening commutes will still be in the -20C range, YMMV.  Dress accordingly, watch out for ice under those snowy patches.

We’re now in the last two days of the campaign and we’ve got a ways to go – another $2,500 is needed to reach our $7,500 goal by end-of-day tomorrow. There’s still quite a few of our primo perks left – two of the Cateye lights, seven of the BikeBike winter tunes and seven of the Clairjs, Bicicles customized bike bags. Get them before they disappear from our virtual shelves.

Here’s a small thank you for our backers of the past several days that have stretched our contributions to this level…

Happy Pedalling.

Half-way!

We’ve made the magical (?) half-way point of the campaign. Our little mini-goals have been moderately successful. The big push was our “half-way at half-way” mini-campaign. Our goal was to reach our funding mid-point at the half-way point in the campaign. Today’s the half-way point, and we were close – so close to making our mini-goal. We’ve reached the lofty heights of $3,540 and our goal was $3,750 today – only a teeny difference of $210. That’s only one Clarijs Bike Bag, and one Cateye Volt 100 light. So close …

We’ve made it one third of the way

Well, we’ve made it through the first third of the campaign relatively successfully. Thanks to everyone for your generous donations and support for our film. Retweeting and liking our posts @BicyclesYYC is very gratifying. Keep up the good work, winter bikers – spread the message to all of your family, friends and co-workers. Tell them to check out our Indiegogo campaign. We’re loving the attention.

Today we had four more people back our campaign. A big shoutout to:

  • Paul Pival
  • Brett Ferster (CSIF Director)
  • Elskest
  • Manvir Grewal

Also in the exciting news column today, we sold out of the Buff Canada Buffs; the “regular” ones – we still have five of the winter buffs left for you. Say, wouldn’t that be a great Christmas gift (yes, it’s that time of year) for your significant other. A little something for their stocking, and a ticket to the World Premiere on February 11th.

Happy pedalling friends.

Day four and we’re on track

We’re on track to make our goal, but these are still early days. We need you to show your support by donating to our campaign and by telling everyone you know about our movie and about our crowdfunding campaign. Day four saw five new generous supports added to our list of fabulous backers.

I made the deposit to lock down the Globe Cinema for our World Premiere on Saturday, February 11th. Remember to donate to get your ticket to the opening gala. I’m hoping to have a mess of bikes in front of the theatre. Bike parking will be courtesy of Alberta Bike Swap.

They keep promising snow, but I have my doubts. To keep you entertained, here’s what winter commuting might look like…

Here we are at day three already

Times flying by. Here we are at the end of Day Three of our campaign. Only 27 more days to go. We’ve added a few more generous backers today that I’d like to call out:

  • Bev Loughran
  • James Ash

We also had a sizeable donation from someone who wishes to remain anonymous. They decided to pick up one of the Ridley’s $100 gift cards that you can apply to anything in either of Ridley Cycles stores. There’s only a limited number of these cards available, so visit the Bicicles Indiegogo page and sign up for one of them today. Maybe I should add that they’d make excellent Christmas gifts too, along with the ticket to the Bicicles World Premiere.

We’ve had summer like biking conditions up until now, and there’s only a vague hint that snow might be on the way overnight. I’m not going to hold my breath on that, so I’ll leave you with a reminder of what that might be like.

Day two welcomes our first Executive Producer

We’re at the end of day two of our crowdfunding campaign and we’ve reached one of our funding milestones, thanks to the very generous donation from our new Executive Producer, Mr. David Chernoff. A high energy shoutout to David and to our other day two backers:

  • Kevin Dalton
  • Andrew James
  • Mike Jones

Many thanks going your way. Remember to tell your friends about the crowdfunding campaign and about Bicicles, the documentary about winter commuting by bicycle in Calgary. The World Premiere is in Calgary on Saturday, February 11th at 3:00 pm at the Globe Cinema downtown. You can get your tickets to the premiere by becoming a Bicicles backer.

The weather’s been especially mild this November, but the temperature, at least, is becoming more seasonal. Maybe we’ll get a bit of snow to make our winter commutes feel like winter commutes. Just a reminder what “real” winter commuting looks like in the city.

2016 Calgary Bike Awards

Way back when at the beginning of July, the Calgary bike community celebrated the 2016 Calgary Bike Awards. The event was hosted by Bike Calgary at the downtown Legion. That was the night that we premiered the Bicicles official trailer. I also wrote about some of our “people” that were nominated and that won awards that night. We also did a bit of filming to capture as much of the ceremony as we could. It’s taken us a bit to pull it all together, but here, for your viewing pleasure, are all the highlights of the Awards ceremony.
